Indian Festivals are very diverse and rich in terms of their location, season, and festivals. Decoration has evolved through the centuries with the influence of new materials and techniques.

Festivals are all about having fun with family and friends, bringing in festivities, color and not forgetting delicious cuisines depending on the festival and a lot of liveliness. The best way to celebrate is to declutter and give your home a makeover. Indian Festivals are very diverse and rich in terms of their geographical location, season, and festivals. Decoration has evolved through the centuries with the influence of new materials and techniques.

Holi brings colors and liveliness to our homes and our lives. This Holi makes your home appropriate to welcome this festival with all eagerness. Here are the home decor ideas that Charu Gupta, Interior Designer and Director of L' Institute De Dessins shared:

Furniture

Since this is an outdoor festival, one doesn’t need to make major changes in the layout of furniture indoors. Heavy pieces of furniture should be left as they are instead brightened with colorful cushions and throws. The ideal way is to protect it by covering the furniture pieces with sheets or waterproof fabrics. Add colorful photos of past festivities for that nostalgia. Tiebacks for curtains with strings of flowers or synthetic beads will further add color.

Lights

Though Holi is a day festival, multicolored lights can be hung all around the home, your entire space will get lit- up with the colorful warmth.

Flowers and Plants:

Embellish home with flowers. Get garlands of Marigold, jasmine, and rose flowers g and drape them on railings of staircases, balconies, ceiling fans, exterior walls, etc. You can also add freshness with green plants.

A floating floral rangoli is auspicious and adds lots of colour. Petals of various flowers, such as marigolds, tube roses, dahlia, roses, jasmine, and green leaves can be arranged into traditional lines and motifs, and shapes. A floating diya in the centre of the arrangement will add a beautiful glow to the floral rangoli.

Dining Table:

Add color with aromatic flower arrangements. Décor the eating area with Holi props like water guns, balloons colors, and other such decorative items. Keep a stack of white plates ready along with colorful napkins and forks. Cake stands with sweets and munchies on a nest of tables spread across the room will keep guests gorging at delicious snacks

Outdoors:

While arranging seating out in the garden or patio, do keep in mind Holi is played with colors and water. Dedicate one area for water-based playfulness, the grass is the best option for this.

The seating arrangement can be with colorful chairs and a table with snacks and drinks. It’s a good gesture to have a small giveaway gift bag handy, it is always appreciated by the guest.
