But, amid the smell of freshly baked cakes oozing from our kitchens, we can add the charm and warmth of handmade Christmas decors as well. It doesn't always have to be lavish- a small origami or a pleasant flower arrangement can add a personal touch to your Christmas celebrations. According to Aditi Murarka Agrawal, who is the Co-Founder of Nestasia, "DIY isn’t merely about crafting, it's about weaving love into every ornament, strengthening family bonds, and etching memories that glitter brighter than any festive decor."

So, this Christmas let's try to bring out the artists within us ans create something stunning for our homes.

DIY Decor Tips For Christmas:

Nidhi Agarwal, who is the Founder of SpaceMantra, said, "You can make your living room festive and cozy with affordable DIY decors and that too in a budget-friendly manner."

Here are a few things that she listed:
  • You can start by making holiday-themed throw pillow covers from old sweaters or special fabric. Add cheerful patterns like snowflakes or reindeer for a festive touch.
  • Plan for creating a stunning centerpiece by repurposing glass jars or vases into glittering winter wonderlands. Fill them with fake snow, pinecones, and tiny ornaments. Use battery-powered fairy lights for a warm glow.
  • Bring nature indoors by making a homemade wreath with pine branches, holly, or eucalyptus. Personalise it with ribbons, ornaments, or small sentimental items.  Hang it on your wall or above the fireplace for a rustic and festive look.
  • You can also get the whole family involved in making handmade ornaments like paper snowflakes or salt dough decorations. Display them on the Christmas tree or around the living room for a charming, homemade holiday feel.
In addition, Shubhankar Goswami, who is a Lecturer for Interior Architecture & Design department at Indian Institute of Art & Design suggested the following:
  • Homemade Scented Candles: Elevate the ambiance of any space with DIY scented candles. Experiment with various scents, colours, and containers to create a personalized sensory experience. Package them in stylish, handmade candle holders for an extra touch of sophistication.
  • Paper Snowflake Curtain: Create winter wonderland indoors with paper snowflake curtain. Cut out various-sized snowflakes from white paper and string them together vertically to form a stunning curtain. Hang it in doorways or windows to evoke a whimsical and magical atmosphere.
