Chhath Puja 2020: When Is Chhath? Know The Date, Significance, Sunrise & Sunset Time

Chhath Puja 2020: The festival starts on the Chaturthi of Shukla Paksha and spans over four days till Saptami.

Chhath Mahaparv: Chhath Mahaparv the biggest festival primarily in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh which is also marked with gaiety in other states of the country is the worship of sun god. The festival is marked six days after the festival of lights Diwali. Also Read: Planning A Vacation? The four important days of the festival are : Nahay Khay, Kharna, Sandhya Arghya, Usha Arghya, the worshippers observe fast of over 48 hours. Chhath Puja 2020, Date, Time and Muhurat First Day: The first day of Nahay Khay is being marked on November 18. Sunrise: 6:46 AM Sunset: 5:26 PM Second Day: The second day of Chhath festival, also known as Kharna is being marked on November 19, when the devotees observe Nirjala vrat from sunrise to sunset. In the end of the day, they break their fast only by eating Kheer which is served as Prasad. Sunrise time - 6:47 AM Sunset time - 5:26 PM Third Day: The third day or the Sandhya Arghya is being marked on November 20 or Shashti Tithi). The worshippers observe a day-long fast and break it only on the following day after sunrise. Chhath Mata is worshipped on this day along with Sun God. It mostly takes place on river ghats and is concluded after the devotees give arghya or water tribute to the setting sun. Sunrise time - 6:48 AM Sunset time - 5:26 PM Fourth: Morning Arghya After offering Arghya to the rising Sun, devotees break their fast on the fourth day. Women, who observe the Chhat Puja vrat, break their fast (do the Parana) on the fourth day, i.e., on Saptami Tithi. On this day, women offer their prayers and water to the Sun God. Sunrise time - 6:49 AM Sunset time - 5:25 PM
