World Will Depend On India For Covid-19 Vaccine In Coming Days, Reckons Expert

There is a shortage of COVID-19 vaccines in the world, but India could fill the gap in the coming days. Several vaccines, scheduled to launch in India, are going through their final trials.

This is just the beginning phase for the COVID-19 vaccines, but in the near future, the demand for Indian Covid-19 vaccines will rise globally. This claim has been made by one of the world's top doctors.

Dr. N.K. Arora, Chairman of the Central Government's Covid Working Group, said that soon the world will be dependent on India's vaccines, which are low-priced and have a high efficacy rate. He added that the production of more effective vaccines will ramp up in India. These vaccines will be launched in the country very soon.

More Vaccines Lined Up For Launch In India

Lauding India's pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Arora said: "Some vaccines, which are made in India, will be so effective in fighting against COVID-19 that it will change the vaccine dynamics in the world."

Citing the examples of the Serum Institute of India and Cadila Healthcare, Dr. Arora said that many indigenous vaccines are going to be launched very soon. Dr. Arora is also the Chairman of the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group.

He described Serum Institute's vaccine, Novavax, as one of the cheapest vaccines in India with up to 90% efficacy.

Apart from Novavax, he believes the Bio-E vaccine also has tremendous potential. It is under the phase-3 trial and is likely to be launched by October. It will be priced at Rs. 250 approximately. In addition to this, Cadila's vaccine will also be launched very soon.

India's Vaccines Will Be Affordable And Effective

Dr. Arora said that it may be hard to believe this right now, but India's vaccines have the potential of leaving American, Russian, and Chinese vaccines behind. He said that it is just the beginning.

"When it comes to cheap and effective vaccines, the world will depend on India for them. Today, buying weapons is easier than buying vaccines", he said.

Vaccines are not readily available. But he believes that many underdeveloped and developing countries will need India's vaccines. That is because India's vaccines will be affordable and effective.
