Are There Any Long-Term Effects Of Covid-19? Here’s What Research Says
The deadly coronavirus pandemic continues across the world. While it has caused a high number of fatalities, many have also recovered from the infection. But does it have any long term effects?
New Delhi: Covid-19 began to terrorize the world late last year and researchers and scientists are beginning to see some of the long term effects that are left in people who contracted the deadly virus. Covid-19 are suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, respiratory issues, cough and chest pain.
The novel coronavirus seemingly has lasting effects on a person body, while there are reports of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, cough chest pain, and respiratory issues are some of the common effects but reports have come of other issues.

In a The Print report, Dr Harjit Singh Bhatti of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi said he has not “come across a lot of Covid patients complaining of eye damage”. “But in the past few days, I have had one patient complain of loss of vision. Since she was old and a recovered Covid-19 patient we could not find the cause of the blindness.”
In the same report, a Ahmedabad-based ophthalmologist, Dr Parth Rana who runs a private hospital, said he had been visited by at least 12 recovered Covid patients for consultations on eye problems. But since, but this still needs to be studied further to confirm whether there is a link between Covid and eye sight.
According to an article by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, other reported long-term symptoms include:
• Difficulty with thinking and concentration (sometimes referred to as “brain fog”)
• Depression
• Muscle pain
• Headache
• Intermittent fever
• Fast-beating or pounding heart (also known as heart palpitations)
According to The New Indian Express article, a study was conducted by Elsoukkary S.S. et al, on 32 autopsies revealed widespread thromboembolic disease (clotting disease) in 28 cases (88 per cent) indicating that clotting of varying degrees is seen in the majority of moderate to severe covid infections.
