‘I’ve Added To Covid 19 Count’ Says Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Head Of Biocon, After Testing Positive
The chairperson of pharma company Biocon Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw announced that she has tested positive for Covid 19.
New Delhi: The chairperson of one of India's biggest pharma company Biocon, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw announced that she has tested positive for coronavirus on Monday. Shaw tweeted about her condition and wrote that she had added to the Covid 19 count in the country by testing positive.
Soon after she tweeted several people wished her speedy recovery including Congress Lok Sabha member Shashi Tharoor who wrote "We need you hale & hearty soon. Be well my friend," Tharoor tweeted. Geneva-based World Health Organisation (WHO) chief scientist Soumya Swaminathan also tweeted Shaw to get well soon. Shaw who joined Biocon in 1978, was listed as the 65th most powerful woman in the world by Forbes.This year she was selected as the EY Entrepreneur of the year 2020. She is the latest high profile persons to have tested positive for coronavirus after politicians such as B.S. Yediyurappa, Home Minister Amit Shah and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan. Although Biocon has not announced any Covid 19 vaccine yet, the company's drug Itolizumab was been approved by the DGCI for 'restricted emergency treatment' of Covid 19. According to the guidelines 25mg / 5ml injection solution of the medicine has been approved for treatment. However last month the National Task Force on COVID-19 decided not to include it in clinical management protocols for Covid 19.I have added to the Covid count by testing positive. Mild symptoms n I hope it stays that way.
