Pearl V Puri Case: Bigg Boss 13's Devoleena Bhattacharjee Lambasts Trolls For Victim-Shaming

Devoleena Bhattacharjee slammed the trolls for passing comments and shaming the victim in Pearl V Puri's alleged case.

Mumbai: Popular TV actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee shared a long post on social media to slam the trolls, who passed derogatory comments against a minor victim in Pearl V Puri’s alleged rape case. The ‘Bigg Boss 13’ contestant lambasted the users for leaking the identity of the girl and flooding her mother’s Instagram posts with their comments.

"Now her identity like name, picture, her mom's profile everything is revealed by known personalities. So you can imagine what is happening there? As we all believe in democracy and right to speech gives all the leeches the right to slut shaming even if she is a kid,” she wrote.

Devoleena said that people should let the court announce its judgement in the case. She added, “This is the truth of today's society. I really wonder what if a common man would have revealed any victim's identity like this who is a known personality. The scenario would have been the same? Why can't we just let the court decide and wait for the justice to prevail.”

Devoleena-Nia Sharma’s Twitter Fight

Nia had posted a tweet to extend support to Pearl after he was arrested in an alleged molestation and rape case. The ‘Naagin 4’ actress tweeted, “Dear privileged Girls and Women, Do not make the heinous allegations of rape and molestation so frivolous and casual that it ceases to hold any value for posterity. @pearlvpuri. You have my support.”

Devoleena also took to Twitter to express her opinion and slam the users, who ‘cursed the minor girl’. She shared a series of tweets and asked the TV celebs, who supported Pearl, to hold protests for him.

After Devoleena’s tweet grabbed several eyeballs, Nia shared a post, which read, "Didi ko koi bata do dharna and candle march nahi kar sakte pandemic hai abhi bhi. Also Didi needs to practice her dance before she makes those pathetic dance reels thinking she’s nailing them.”

The war of words between the two popular actresses became the talk of the town after their tweets went viral.

Why Was Pearl V Puri Arrested?

Last week, Mumbai Police arrested Pearl V Puri on charges of molestating and raping a minor girl on the sets of a TV show. A Vasai court sent the ‘Naagin 3’ actor to a judicial custody of 14 days.

According to a report in IANS, Pearl was booked under IPC Sec. 376 AB and POCSO Act, 4, 8, 12,19 and 21. The victim’s family accused him of raping the five-year-old in 2019, when she went to the sets of the show with her mother, the report in the news agency said.

The likes of Ekta Kapoor, Surbhi Jyoti, Karishma Tanna, Shaheer Sheikh and Erica Fernandes came out in Pearl’s support after the actor was arrested.
