Dipika Kakar Makes First Appearance Post Surgery In Shoaib Ibrahim’s Vlog: 'Every Time I Coughed...'

Television star Dipika Kakar, who recently underwent surgery to remove a cancerous tumour from her liver, has made her first on-camera appearance since the procedure.

Television star Dipika Kakar, who recently underwent surgery to remove a cancerous tumour from her liver, has made her first on-camera appearance since the procedure. The actor featured briefly in her husband Shoaib Ibrahim’s latest YouTube vlog, where she addressed her well-wishers and shared her ongoing post-operative struggles.

Dipika Kakar thanked fans

Wearing a smile despite visible discomfort, Dipika thanked fans for their support and revealed the toll recovery has taken on her. “I am extremely thankful to you all for keeping me in your prayers and thoughts. The nurses were also extremely kind and positive. Several others, family members of other patients were so nice and kind to me. I am feeling much much better. I was suffering when I got cough. Every time I coughed, it hurt the stitches. I don’t think I can talk more. I will speak when I recover and feel better,” she said.

Shoaib shares updates on Dipika’s condition

Shoaib, who has been regularly updating fans through his vlogs, began the video with visuals of Dipika slowly walking and eating solid food for the first time post-surgery. “She is recovering well. She has some pain and in between she developed cough, which hurt her stitches. But, now she is doing better. After the surgery, she finally slept in peace about last night. She was in the ICU for the three days, and she was panicking the whole time. The tubes in her nose scared her,” he said.

He also talked about the heightened risk of infection post-surgery, noting that he limited hospital visits. “I was not allowing any of my family members to visit Dipika as there are chances of infection. I will have to take extra care at home once she is discharged from the hospital as there will still be some scope of getting infections,” he added.

Reliving difficult memories from the past

For Shoaib, the experience has brought back memories of his father’s hospitalization. “This entire episode reminded me of the time when dad was admitted in the hospital. But then too we came out of the phase, and I am hoping now too we will get through this. We have been quite positive this whole time, but being human you do come across certain negative thoughts,” he shared.

He further reflected on the emotional toll of Dipika’s diagnosis and recovery journey. “Ever since we learnt that Dipika has this tumour, things have been really hard for us, especially the last few days when she underwent the surgery. And things are going to be more difficult in the coming days until she fully recovers. But, we are glad that the surgery went well.”

The vlog also captured an emotional moment as Shoaib’s mother visited Dipika for the first time after her surgery. Their infant son Ruhaan was also seen in the video, bringing a moment of warmth and hope during a challenging phase for the family.
