Barkha Bisht confirms to be a part of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi

In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Barkha said, “Yes, I am joining the show,” but declined to reveal details about her role. “I can’t reveal much about the role right now,” she added, staying tight-lipped about her character arc. Rumours suggest that she may play the romantic lead opposite Amar Upadhyay, who reprises his role as Mihir Virani, but the actor has chosen not to comment further.

Barkha is a known face in Indian television, having appeared in hit series like Kasauti Zindagii Kay, Tenali Rama, and Shaadi Mubarak. She has also dabbled in films, with her Bollywood debut in the 2010 political drama Raajneeti, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif.

Smriti Irani recently opened up about what it means to return to Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, saying that it’s not merely about stepping into an old role - it’s about revisiting a story that transformed Indian television and deeply impacted her own journey.

"It gave me more than commercial success - it gave me a connection with millions of homes, a place in the emotional fabric of a generation," Irani added.

The actor-turned-politician also expressed her intention to do justice to the legacy of Kyunki by being part of its upcoming reboot.

"In contributing to this next chapter, I hope to honour the legacy of Kyunki - and help shape a future where India’s creative industries aren’t just celebrated, but truly empowered," she stated.

The new season of 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' is set to premiere on Star Plus and JioCinema on July 29.
