After Facing Backlash, Shoaib Ibrahim Clarifies Kashmir Vlog Intent: ‘Didn’t Mean to Promote’

Actors Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim faced massive backlash after sharing a health update following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. While many fans expressed concern for their safety, the popular TV couple announced that they were safe — but also mentioned that a new vlog would be coming soon. This vlog update, however, irked several fans who found it "insensitive" and unnecessary at such a tragic time.

In a new vlog posted on his official YouTube channel, Shoaib Ibrahim addressed the controversy, revealing that he received abusive and hate-filled messages in the past few days.

Speaking directly to his audience, Shoaib said in Hindi,"We flew from Srinagar to Delhi on April 22. While we were mid-flight, the Pahalgam terror attack occurred, and we had no knowledge about it. There was no connection. When we landed and switched our phones on, we were flooded with messages inquiring about our safety. Initially, the news only reported a few injuries. We thought it was responsible to inform our well-wishers that we were safe, and in the same breath, I mentioned the vlog — but without any intention of promoting it."

 

He further explained, "Maine ek story daal di that we are fine and we will update you. Uss story ka jo bawaal banaya hai… kai logon ne, kuch media portals ne, aur kuch YouTube channels ne. Toh mera woh koi intention nahi tha ki mujhe apna vlog promote karna hai. It was just ki mere paas uss samay information nahi thi. Dheere dheere videos aa rahe the social media pe tab khud ko bura lag raha tha," (I posted a story saying we are fine and will update you. What a stir that caused — by many people, some media portals, and YouTube channels. It was never my intention to promote the vlog. At that time, I had no complete information. As videos started appearing on social media, I too felt bad.).

Shoaib also shared that he received many vile and abusive messages, some even targeting his family. Expressing his frustration, he questioned why he and Dipika were singled out: "Sirf main target kyu? Dipika target kyu? Hum kya special hai aapke liye? Har ek vlogger ne daala hai,"(Why only target me? Why target Dipika? Are we special for you? Every vlogger has uploaded videos.)
