Team Dusshera Crafts A 50-Foot Rangoli Of Maa Vaghmata In Dang! Marks Onset Of Diwali With Locals

Team Dusshera, creators of a Gujarati VFX film, celebrated Diwali's start by creating a massive Rangoli of Maa Vaghmata in Ambabari village.

In a vibrant celebration of faith, art, and community spirit, Team Dusshera, creators of Gujarat’s most ambitious VFX film, marked the beginning of Diwali with a remarkable cultural initiative in Ambabari village, Dang district.

As excitement around Dusshera’s powerful teaser continues to sweep Gujarat, the film’s team extended its cinematic spirit beyond the screen through a heartfelt act of devotion. They joined hands with local artisans and villagers of Ambabari to create a majestic 50x50 ft Rangoli of Maa Vaghmata, the divine symbol of strength and protection, marking the spiritual beginning of the festive season.

The initiative, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 'Vocal for Local' vision, brought together creativity, culture, and community.  From colours and flowers to diyas and garlands, every element of the Rangoli was sourced locally, reinforcing the team’s commitment to empowering the rural economy and celebrating indigenous artistry.

The atmosphere in the village was electric with enthusiasm. Some were filling colours, others stringing garlands, while children lit oil lamps that bathed the village in a golden glow. As evening fell and the Rangoli shone under hundreds of flickering diyas, Ambabari village came alive in the divine light of Maa Vaghmata’s blessings. The villagers then gathered together for a grand Aarti and shared Prasad, turning the moment into a moving symbol of unity, devotion, and gratitude.

“The people of Ambabari are not just part of our film, they are part of its soul,” said Chinmay Naik, writer and director of Dusshera. “This land gave our story its roots. Through this Rangoli, we bowed in gratitude to the soil and the spirit that shaped Dusshera.”

Produced by Viraj Dave in partnership with Ashtaar Films, Mahamaya Studio, and 360 Eye, Dusshera represents a rare confluence of technology and tradition. The film, centred on Shakti, the divine feminine force, promises to elevate Gujarati cinema with its compelling narrative and groundbreaking visual storytelling.

Although the film’s release date has not been announced yet, its teaser has already generated an unprecedented wave of excitement across Gujarat. And now, with this symbolic celebration in the land where it was born, Dusshera has transcended its screen. It has emerged not just as a film, but as a movement of devotion, artistry, and pride in local identity.
