New Delhi: Actor Sunny Deol and director Suneel Darshan had a great working relationship and they worked together in films like Inteqam (1988), Lootere (1993), and Ajay (1996). It all went downhill from the shooting of the film ‘Ajay’ and the two have been embroiled in a legal battle for over 25 years now. 

During the release of the film, Suneel Darshan had said that Sunny left the film incomplete and refused to shoot the ending. He claimed that he had to release the movie without a proper ending. The two entered into a legal battle then. 

Now, Suneel has opened up about the feud once again. In a conversation with Bollywood Hunagama, Sunil said that Sunny Deol ‘fooled’ him. 

“Sunny Deol had a massive ego. 26 years later, my litigation with him is still on. First, he promised to return the money. Then he said he had no money so I must make a film with him. There was a retired Chief Justice of India, Justice Bharucha, before whom this matter was put. Sunny said he didn’t have the liquidity to return my amount so he would do a film for me. I was working with his brother (Bobby Deol), and did three movies with him back-to-back. I had no grudges against him. I thought galti koi bhi karke sudhar sakta hai (Anyone can repent after making a mistake). But, he fooled me,” Sunil told Bollywood Hungama. 

The filmmaker also said that Sunny kept postponing the dates till the period mentioned in their contract passed. After that, the filmmaker's legal team sent the actor a notice but Sunny's team replied that the film's dialogues are not approved by the actor.  

“I was not supposed to get the dialogue approved by him. Has any actor ever approved dialogue? The intention was wrong, which was excruciating. A lot of money was involved and a lot of time. Then he took me on a long goose chase, which is still on. You know the legal system,” Suneel told Bollywood Hungama.
