‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Breaks Records, Becomes 6th Highest Grossing Movie Ever

Despite concerns about Covid-19, specifically its more transmissible Omicron variant, 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' has stayed a box office force across the globe.

Tom Holland-starrer 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' has become the sixth-highest grossing movie in history with $1.69 billion at the worldwide box office.

According to variety.com, it passed 'Jurassic World' ($1.67 billion) and 'The Lion King' ($1.66 billion) to secure the spot.

Despite concerns about Covid-19, specifically its more transmissible Omicron variant, 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' has stayed a box office force across the globe.

On Sunday, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ broke another box-office record to become the sixth-highest grossing movie in history by collecting $1.69 billion at the global box office. It surpassed Jurassic World’ ($1.67 billion) and ‘The Lion King’ ($1.66 billion) to grab the record.

The family-friendly film, which opened around Christmas, has generated $112 million internationally and $241 million globally.

‘No Way Home’ has returned to its Number 1 slot in North America over the weekend. It added $14.1 million to its collection between Friday and Sunday in North America itself. It added another $27.7 million to its collection globally. 

The film, led by Tom Holland, brings together other Spider-Mans from the multiverse and stars Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire in their previous roles. The Sony-Marvel collaboration earned $721 million at the domestic box office and $970.1 million internationally.
‘No Way Home’ has been ranked as the fourth-biggest movie ever outside of the United States.

It has managed to break records even though it wasn’t played in China which is the world’s biggest moviegoing market. 

The film has done especially well in Holland’s birthplace, the UK. $116 million have been collected till now from the UK alone. Other top-earning territories include Mexico, South Korea and France earning $73.4 million, $60.6 million and $59.9 million respectively.

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ is a part of MCU’s fourth phase and brings together 3 Spideys from different times together, creating a multiverse. Earlier the rights of the Spider-Man franchise were held by Sony alone.
