Nayanthara fasting

At the pooja ceremony marking the official launch of the film, Ishari K Ganesh shared, “I must mention Nayanthara madam’s dedication. She has been fasting for nearly a month for her role. She also followed this practice before portraying Amman in Mookuthi Amman part 1. She’s truly excited about this character and the story."

How Nayanthara was cast for the role

Reflecting on the origins of the film, Ganesh mentioned that five years ago, when actor R. J. Balaji approached him with the idea for Mookuthi Amman, he immediately agreed, as Mookuthi Amman is their family deity. "When it came time to cast the lead role, there was only one choice—Nayanthara. We approached her, and she instantly agreed. The film was well received by audiences," he said.

He further explained that after the success of Mookuthi Amman, he was eager to continue the story of Goddess Amman but found that no other film on the subject had been made. "I wanted a pan-Indian film on Goddess Mookuthi Amman, so I thought, why not make a second installment? When I discussed this idea with my team, we agreed that Sundar C would be the perfect director for this project, given his reputation as the 'Franchise King," Ganesh shared.

Ganesh went on to say that after approaching director Sundar C, he initially requested time to work on the script, but within a month, he returned with a complete script. "Sundar C then said he would speak with Nayanthara and finalize her dates for the film. When we discussed the film's budget, Sundar C emphasized that the movie should be made on a grand scale to meet pan-Indian standards. When I asked about the cost, he signaled with three fingers, indicating a three-digit figure (over 100 crore). I agreed," Ganesh added, explaining that he entrusted the entire project to Sundar C.
