Shefali Jariwala — From An Information Technology Degree To 'Kaanta Laga' And 'Big Boss'

Shefali Jariwala, famed for Bigg Boss 13 and "Kaanta Laga" tragically died of a sudden cardiac arrest on June 27-28. Despite immediate medical efforts, she could not be revived.

Actress and television personality Shefali Jariwala, widely known for her stint on Bigg Boss 13, has passed away at the age of 42. The shocking news has sent ripples across the entertainment industry and left fans in mourning. She was not just an actor but also good in academics.

Shefali suffered a sudden cardiac arrest on the intervening night of June 27 and 28. She was immediately rushed to the hospital by her husband and three others in a desperate attempt to save her. Despite swift medical intervention, doctors were unable to revive her. The hospital's receptionist later confirmed the heartbreaking development.

Best remembered for her strong presence on reality TV and her iconic appearance in the 2000s music video Kaanta Laga, Shefali had built a devoted fanbase over the years.

Born on December 15, 1982, in Mumbai, Shefali was academically inclined, holding a BE degree in Information Technology from Sardar Patel Engineering College in Gujarat, as per various media reports. But destiny had something else in store. Her breakout came in 2002, when she featured in the remix music video Kaanta Laga. With her bold style and electrifying screen presence, she became an overnight sensation, quickly earning household recognition.

Following the success of the video, Shefali made brief appearances in Bollywood, including a cameo in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi alongside Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. She later expanded her work into regional cinema, including a Kannada film, and even explored digital entertainment through web series like Baby Come Naa.

But it was reality television that marked her major comeback. In 2019, Shefali entered the Bigg Boss 13 house as a wild card contestant. Her composed demeanour, strong opinions, and dignified confrontations earned her both fans and critics. She was widely appreciated for maintaining grace under pressure and for being unapologetically herself in a house known for high-voltage drama.

Off-screen, Shefali’s life was marked by both personal highs and challenges. Her first marriage to musician Harmeet Singh (of Meet Bros fame) ended in divorce. She later found love again and married actor Parag Tyagi in 2014. Together, the couple participated in shows like Nach Baliye, where they showcased their chemistry.

Shefali was open about her long-term health battles, including her fight with epilepsy. Over the years, Shefali Jariwala transformed from a one-song wonder into a woman of substance.

Tributes are pouring in on social media ever since the news of her death broke out.
