New Delhi: Akshay Kumar starrer 'Samrat Prithviraj' seems to be going downhill on the 5th day of its release. The film is based on the valour of legendary ruler Prithviraj Chauhan. Directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, 'Samrat Prithviraj' released on June 3.
The historical drama opened to lukewarm response on the day of its release, going on to do good business over the weekend. However, the box office collection went for a toss on Monday after the film's collections went downhill, collecting only Rs 5 crore on Monday. The film's collections further slipped on Tuesday as it was able to mint only Rs 4.5 crore.
According to trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh, with the film continuing its downward trend, it has very less scope of covering up for the loss incurred. Sharing the overall box office collection of the Akshay Kumar film, he wrote, "#SamratPrithviraj continues its downward trend... Trending is extremely weak, there's zilch hope of covering lost ground on weekdays or next weekend...Fri 10.70 cr, Sat 12.60 cr, Sun 16.10 cr, Mon 5 cr, Tue 4.25 cr. Total: ₹ 48.65 cr. #India biz."

'Samrat Prithviraj' is facing tough competition from Kamal Haasan's film 'Vikram', that is roaring at the box office. Adivi Sesh's 'Major' is also doing well at the box office.
Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan's 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2' continues to reign the box office by minting crores. The horror-comedy thriller has already crossed the 150 crore mark in its third week and is marching ahead towards reaching the 175 crore mark, very soon.
