Lata Mangeshkar Death: The legendary singer's mortal remains were laid to rest with full state honours, held at Shivaji Park, in Mumbai on Sunday evening.

Tributes kept pouring in from Bollywood & TV celebrities as Lata Mangeshkar's mortal remains were consigned to the flames amid the chanting of Vedic mantras on Sunday evening. The legendary singer's mortal remains were laid to rest with full state honours, held at Shivaji Park, in Mumbai on Sunday evening.

After the mourners paid their last respects to Lata's body draped in the National Tricolour on a flower-bedecked pedestal, the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force contingents sounded the Last Post and accorded a salute as the gathering stood in attention.

Menawhile, popular singer and Bigg Boss 14 fame Rahul Vaidya took to social media to share an old video featuring his conversation with Lata ji in which he can be seen calling the late singer as 'Bharat Mata'. In the videos the Nightingale of India gets surprised hearing this and thanks Rahul Vaidya for the same.

Rahul shared the video on his social media account to mourn the demise of the legendary singer. In the clip Rahul shares with the legendary singer that as a kid he always saw an image of 'Bharat Mata' as a woman in a saree and while sitting across her, he feels that Lata ji looks exactly like her as she wore an elegant white saree with orange and green borders. He goes on to ask her if there was a special reason for her choosing to wear that particular saree. Lata ji replies to him saying that since it was Independence Day, she thought of wearing a Khadi outfit, and the saree happened to be a tricolour one.

The candid interview dates back to 2013 when Rahul Vaidya interviewed Lata Mangeshkar at her home for a charity event for Uttarakhand.
Rahul posted the video with a heartfelt caption, "Om shanti 🙏🏼 Lata ji you’ve left us today but your voice will remain till the time the world exists. I believe that the Gods wanted u to sing for them so they took you. Beyond sad.. 😔 Live happily here after maa saraswati ❤️😇".

Rahul Vaidya also attended Lata Mangeshkar's funeral at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park and paid his last respects.
