Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions is gearing up to release its latest film, 'Sarzameen', which will stream on JioCinema starting July 25. The teaser of the film was released on Monday. The intense, character-driven drama stars Kajol, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Ibrahim Ali Khan in pivotal roles and marks the feature directorial debut of Kayoze Irani, son of veteran actor Boman Irani.
About Sarzameen
Billed as a gripping emotional thriller, 'Sarzameen' explores the personal battles people fight behind the façade of duty and discipline. Set against the fraught landscape of Kashmir, the film promises a layered narrative that intertwines patriotism, trauma, and resilience.
Prithviraj takes on the role of Colonel Vijay Menon, a highly respected army officer whose sense of loyalty comes at a great personal cost. Kajol plays Meera, his wife—a woman of quiet strength, trying to keep her family from falling apart. Ibrahim Ali Khan portrays Harman, a conflicted young man wrestling with haunting memories and hidden truths. This will be his second screen appearance after his debut in 'Nadaaniyan' on Netflix.

Director Kayoze Irani on Sarzameen
Reflecting on his first full-length film, Kayoze Irani said, “'Sarzameen'... gave me the chance to tell a story that is both deeply intimate and profoundly intense. Working with phenomenal artists like Prithviraj Sir, Kajol Ma’am, and Ibrahim each of whom brought such emotional depth and honesty to their performances has been nothing short of a privilege... The emotional battlefield in 'Sarzameen' is just as powerful and consuming as the one unfolding on the frontlines.”
Kayoze had previously directed the short film Ankahi in the Netflix anthology Ajeeb Daastaans (2021).
Karan Johar on Sarzameen
Producer Karan Johar described the film as more than just a suspense-filled drama. “It’s not just a thriller, it’s a personal and powerful journey that speaks to the times we live in. With honesty and heart, it explores what it means to stay true to your values when everything around you is tested,” Johar said.
Also backed by Apoorva Mehta, Adar Poonawalla, and Star Studios, 'Sarzameen' aims to deliver a story that blends action, emotion, and introspection, all set in a politically tense region.
