Bridgerton Season 3: Makers Announce Show’s Return With Two-Part In 2024

'Bridgerton' is set in Shonda Rhimes's Shondaland, based on the best-selling romance books by Julia Quinn.

New Delhi: The highly anticipated third season of the popular period-drama series 'Bridgerton' will be offered on Netflix in two parts in 2024. The show is set in Shonda Rhimes's Shondaland, based on the best-selling romance books by Julia Quinn. It tells the stories of the Bridgerton family, with a focus on the lives and romantic relationships of the eight children.

According to a press statement from Netflix, there will be eight episodes in season three. Part one will premiere on May 16, 2024, and part two will premiere on June 13, 2024.

The upcoming season of Jess Brownell's show is going to focus on the blossoming romantic relationship between Nicola Coughlan's Penelope Featherington and Luke Newton's Colin Bridgerton. Penelope Featherington has finally given up on her long-standing crush on Colin Bridgerton in season three after hearing his negative remarks about her in the previous season.

"She has, however, decided it’s time to take a husband, preferably one who will provide her with enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, far away from her mother and sisters. But lacking in confidence, Penelope’s attempts on the marriage mart fail spectacularly," the official plotline read.

The first season, which aired in 2020, primarily focused on the romantic relationship between Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings (Rege-Jean Page) and Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor). The second season, which premiered in March 2022, was centered on the romantic tale of Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley).

Meanwhile, 'Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton story' focused on the Queen's earlier life and her love affair with King George. The series' walks viewers through their first encounter, their romance as they grow to know one another, and the eventual secrets that threaten both their marriage and even the royal family.

The executive producers of 'Bridgerton' are Chris Van Dusen, Betsy Beers, Tom Verica, and Ryan Rhimes.
