Angry Young Men Twitter Review: Salim-Javed’s Nostalgic Tale Leaves Viewers Divided, Netizens Say 'Series Offers Nothing New'
‘Angry Young Men’, the much-anticipated documentary featuring Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, shows how their work in some hit films captivated a generation.
‘Angry Young Men’, the much-anticipated documentary featuring Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, is now streaming on Prime Video. The three-part series explores how Salim-Javed's iconic "Angry Young Man" character and their powerful screenplays changed Hindi film in the 1970s. The docu-series shows how their work in some hit films captivated a generation.
22 of the 24 films Salim and Javed collaborated on were box office successes. Films like ‘Don’, ‘Zanjeer’, and ‘Sholay’ are some of their greatest hits. However, the duo split around the beginning of the 1980s.
Here is how the viewers reacted to Angry Young Men:
It’s rare for an Indian docuseries based on cinema legends to not be a puff piece. Namrata Rao’s insightful & unfiltered three-part series is yet another Salim-Javed blockbuster. Deeply personal and in-depth. Review #AngryYoungMen https://t.co/xLZa0ZmdAc pic.twitter.com/Ys2S6BSvk6

#AngryYoungMen series is a good series if one knows nothing about the legend of Salim-Javed.

It barely scratches the surface though with only 3 episodes.
Most importantly it skips the reason behind their split.
#AngryYoungMen does a good job of keeping things breezy but wish it had more on Salim-Javed's craft and process. There are few bits to that end like where JA talks about consciously maintaining the brisk tempo of Don's screenplay. Just wish there was more of that stuff.

Ok #AngryYoungMen review- being a follower n fan of Salim Javed sir, this series offers nothing new which is not already out in the public domain. Was expecting in-depth untold incidents especially , what actually made them break the partnership.

Nevertheless must watch pic.twitter.com/y2o0ine2Th
#NamrataRao’s #AngryYoungMen – on @PrimeVideoIN – is an easy watch, a nostalgic look at the Salim-Javed story, but there’s not much real insight… The best parts are the ones where they talk about their process...
