Ranu Mondol's rendition of 'Manike Mage Hithe' is going viral on social media. Here's how the netizens reacted to the cover!

Mumbai: Sri Lankan singers Yohani and Satheeshan have taken the internet by storm, courtesy their hit song 'Manike Mage Hithe'. Unless you are living under a rock, there's a good chance that you have heard the soothing number on YouTube. Instagram is flooded with reels featuring ‘Manike Maghe Hithe’ as many Bollywood celebs including Madhuri Dixit and Tiger Shroff have used the Sinhalese song in background for their videos.

Ranu Mondal, who grabbed eyeballs after her rendition of Lata Mangeshkar's 'Ek Pyaar Ka Nagma Hai' went viral, attempted to croon ‘Manike Maghe Hithe’. The elderly woman became an overnight internet star after her clip from West Bengal’s Ranaghat railway station was heavily circulated on different social media platforms.

Mondal is again trending on Twitter after a YouTuber named Rondhon Porichoy shared a video wherein she can be seen singing ‘Manike Maghe Hithe’. The 37-second clip has created ripples on YouTube, garnering over 8.5 lakhs.

Some users posted positive comments and lauded Ranu for trying a non-Hindi song. "It's a Srilankan language, not easy to sing by everyone, mostly native people can sing it," a user wrote. Another fan commented, "Good try didi, you tried your best, don't be upset for negativity."

Mondal, who was invited on the sets of reality show 'Indian Idol', also sang Sahdev Dirdo's popular song ‘Bachpan Ka Pyaar’.

Ranu Mandol, who hails from Bengal, recorded several songs with music composer Himesh Reshammiya for the film 'Happy Hardy and Heer'. She lent her voice to 'Teri Meri Kahaani', 'Aashiqui Mein Teri 2', 'Adat' and 'Keh Rahi Hai Naazdeekiyaan'.
