Ram Charan Birthday Special: When He Agreed To Do Remake Of Amitabh Bachchan's 'Zanjeer' That Even Abhishek Couldn't Attempt

Ram Charan who celebrates his 38th birthday on March 27, made his Bollywood debut with the remake of Amitabh Bachchan starrer 'Zanjeer'.

New Delhi: Ram Charan has acquired a global following thanks to SS Rajamouli's 'RRR', that has created history from Oscars to the Golden Globes for its iconic song 'Naatu Naatu'. The actor, who celebrates his 38th birthday on March 27, made his Bollywood debut with the remake of Amitabh Bachchan starrer 'Zanjeer'. The movie was a gamble because it made Ram known to Hindi audiences and showed the actor assuming a legendary part that had previously been done by superstar Amitabh Bachchan.

The actor was once questioned by a Bollywood celebrity about why he chose to accept the challenge while Amitabh Bachchan's son Abhishek Bachchan also turned it down. Ram Charan, who is the son of south superstar Chiranjeevi, had said that he was naturally adept at handling stress.

Priyanka Chopra, Sanjay Dutt, Prakash Raj, Atul Kulkarni, and Mahie Gill all appeared in the 2013 remake of 'Zanjeer', which was directed by Apoorva Lakhia. The film was also released in Telugu. Jaya Bachchan, Pran, Ajit Khan, and Bindu were among the cast members of the original 1973 version, which was directed by Prakash Mehra. Despite the actor's confidence in his ability to succeed in Hindi cinema at the time, he did not sign any other film. Ram reportedly makes a special appearance in Salman Khan's multi-starrer film 'Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan', which will be released later this year.

During an interview with Hyderabad Times in 2013, Ram Charan talked about making his Bollywood debut with the remake of Amitabh Bachchan's one of the most iconic and blockbuster films 'Zanjeer'. The actor had said, "A 'big star' in Bollywood recently told me, 'Do you know what you've gotten yourself into? Zanjeer is a movie every Indian has in his personal library. His own son doesn't want to attempt it because it's too much of a burden. Why do you want to do it?'. I just said, 'Sir, let me tell you I was born to handle pressure. I've had people coming to me and saying I have to fill my dad's shoes.' But with Mr Bachchan's film, the shoes just got bigger!"

Ram Charan most recently appeared with Jr. NTR and Alia Bhatt in the Telugu language Oscar-winning film 'RRR'. Earlier this year, the actor visited the US to promote the movie during awards season, and he and his wife, Upasana Konidela, attended the Oscars ceremony. The couple made the announcement that they will be having their first child this year, in December 2022.

The actor is presently filming for his upcoming project with filmmaker Shankar, which is now named 'RC 15'. In the action movie, he will be paired with Kiara Advani. Ram and Shankar are collaborating on a Telugu movie for the first time.

We wish Ram Charan a very Happy Birthday!
