Mumbai: One of the most anticipated movies of this year ‘Thalaivi’ starring Kangana Ranaut in the lead role, has cleared the censor board with a clean ‘U’ certificate reportedly. The film was earlier slated for a theatrical release on April 23, 2021, but as the country got hit by the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the release date has been postponed.
The film which will release in three languages – Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, has been given a ‘U’ certificate. The Tamil version of 'Thalaivi' has been certified without cuts and that the makers will soon apply for certification of the Hindi and Telugu versions too. According to a report of Times Of India, the upcoming biopic is being planned to release on the big screens in the month of August and the dates will be announced as soon as lockdown restrictions are lifted.
Kangana Ranaut shared the update on her Instagram and wrote, "Thalaivi gets U certificate in Tamil version, which means after Queen and Manikarnika one more film of mine which even children can enjoy with parents and grandparents."
‘Thalaivi’ is a biographical drama based on the life of actor and politician J. Jayalalithaa, who served six terms as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Kangana will be seen portraying the role of the protagonist in this film helmed by A.L. Vijay.
Other than the ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ actress, ‘Thalaivi’ also stars some fantastic artists including Arvind Swami as M. G. Ramachandran, Nassar as M. Karunanidhi, ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ actress Bhagyashree as Jaya’s mother and many others.
The makers of ‘Thalaivi’ released the trailer of the film earlier this year and created a storm amongst the audience. Watching Kangana doing an incredible job in bringing to life the character of Jaya Amma on-screen created more eagerness amongst movie-lovers.
Meanwhile, apart from ‘Thalaivi’, Kangana Ranaut also has ‘Tejas’ and ‘Dhaakad’ in her kitty.
