IOA Goodwill Ambassador Salman Khan doesn't even remember Dipa Karmakar's name!

New Delhi: Call it his ignorance or confusion, Salman Khan has done it yet again. At a press conference on Sunday, the Indian Olympics Association’s Goodwill Ambassador referred to Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar first name as “Deeepika”.   Salman was at the event to launch the trailer of his brother Sohail Khan's upcoming movie ‘Freaky Ali’ that has Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead.   When Salman was asked about a question on ongoing Olympics, Salman tried to speak on Dipa Karmakar but called her “Deepika” instead. A journalist at the event corrected him by saying the name is “Dipti” which was again wrong. Salman thought that was right, so nodded and said, "Yes, Dipti”.   "I thought... it was... was it Deepika? I thought she was going to win gold but she came eighth, no?" the actor asked. (Watch between 27:29-27:45).   For his knowledge, Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar scripted history as she became the first Indian to make the cut for the individual vault finals in her debut Olympic Games after finishing 8th in the qualifying round in Rio. She has secured her a place in the finals scheduled for August 14 as the top-8 made the cut for the medal round.   This wasn’t his first slip up at the event. Earlier he introduced Nawazuddin Siddqui as Nawazuddin 'Shah.'   During the promotions of his last movie ‘Sultan, Salman in an interview compared himself with a raped woman when quizzed about the gruelling shoot, drawing sharp reaction from all quarters.
