Farhan Akhtar Talks About Ranveer Singh Starring In Don 3; Says It Was 'Same Emotional Process When Shah Rukh Khan Did It'

New Delhi: Farhan Akhtar officially announced that Ranveer Singh will feature as the new Don. Shah Rukh Khan has already cemented a place in fans' hearts because of his knack for delivering unforgettable performances. Netizens' reactions to the casting were therefore contradictory, with some unwilling to accept Ranveer as the new Don. Farhan has now responded to criticism regarding the casting and given more details about the upcoming movie.

In a recent interview, Farhan Akhtar responded to the remarks about Singh's casting. He recalled how even Shah Rukh faced backlash for playing the part that was previously played by Amitabh Bachchan when she spoke about the criticism around Ranveer's Don.

“Ranveer is amazing. He’s great for the part. He’s also, as you can imagine, really excited and really nervous, about the thing you’re filling some big shoes before you. But we went through the same emotional process when Shah Rukh did it and everyone was like ‘Oh my God, how can you replace Mr. Bachchan?.’That whole thing happened then,” Farhan told BBC Asian Network.

“It really is about an actor coming in and owning the part and making it really like, giving it their style and their flair. And he has that, he has that in spades. So, he is going to do a great job. I think the responsibility is more mine now to make sure that the script and the film work out the way I imagine,” he added. 

One of the most anticipated action franchises is 'Don 3'. Ranveer Singh is seen smoking a cigarette while sitting with his back to the camera in the recent teaser for the movie. The movie is scheduled for release in 2025and is produced by Excel Entertainment's Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar.
