Coldplay Faces Restrictions For Ahmedabad Concert: No Children On Stage, Sound Limits Imposed

Ahead of Coldplay's concert in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, a notice has been issued to the band's lead singer Chris Martin and the event organisers, instructing them not to include children in any form during the performance. According to NDTV, the organisers have also been told to ensure that no children are allowed into the concert venue without earplugs or hearing protection.

Additionally, the organisers must adhere to noise control protocols, with a strict limit on sound levels not exceeding 120 decibels. The notice warns that failure to comply with these directives could result in strict action from the District Child Protection Unit in Ahmedabad.

Coldplay Gets Notice

This notice came after a complaint by Pandit Rao Dharnevar, an Assistant Professor of Sociology in Chandigarh, who raised concerns about the potential harm of loud sounds at such events to children’s physical and mental health.

Coldplay is scheduled to perform at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on January 25 and 26, 2025, as part of their Music of the Spheres tour. Originally, only one show was planned in the city, but due to "unprecedented demand," a second show has been added.

BookMyShow announced the additional show in November 2024, stating, “Due to unprecedented demand, a 5TH SHOW has been added in India for Coldplay! Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025 now on the 26th of JANUARY at Narendra Modi Stadium. Waiting room for the second show goes live at 12.45 PM IST. Early access to the waiting room does not guarantee priority access in the queue. Tickets go on sale at 1 PM IST. Once the sale begins, each user will be assigned a position in the queue through the automated queue randomisation. Each user can book a maximum of 4 tickets across all Ahmedabad shows."

In addition to the Ahmedabad concerts, Coldplay will also perform at Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium on January 18, 19, and 20, 2025.
