Guru Randhawa Deletes X Account After Cryptic Dig At Diljit Dosanjh Amid Sardaar Ji 3 Uproar

Singer Guru Randhawa has taken down his account on X after he posted a cryptic message, widely interpreted as a veiled criticism of fellow Punjabi artist Diljit Dosanjh.

In an unexpected move, singer Guru Randhawa has taken down his account on X (formerly Twitter), sparking widespread speculation online. This comes shortly after he posted a cryptic message, widely interpreted as a veiled criticism of fellow Punjabi artist Diljit Dosanjh.

Guru's official X handle, previously active under the name @GuruOfficial, now shows the message: “This account doesn’t exist.” While he remains active on Instagram, his sudden disappearance from X has added fuel to the fire, especially in light of his recent post, which many believe was a not-so-subtle dig at Diljit.

What Guru Randhawa tweeted

The now-deleted message, written partly in Punjabi and partly in English, didn’t name anyone specifically, but its timing, coming amid heavy backlash against 'Sardaar Ji 3' for casting Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, got social media buzzing. The controversy surrounding the film has placed Diljit Dosanjh, one of its leads, in the eye of the storm.

Guru wrote, “Lakh pardesi hoyieee. Apna desh nhi bhandi daa. Jehre mulk da khayie, us da bura nhi mangi da.”

The Punjabi lines loosely translate to: “Even if you become a complete foreigner, you should never betray your own country. One should never wish ill for the country that provides for them.”

Continuing in English, he added, “Even if now your citizenship is not Indian but you were born here, please remember this. This country made great artists, and we all are proud of it. Please be proud of where you were born. Just an advice. Now don't start controversy again and manipulate Indians LOL. PR is bigger than the artist.”

While he didn’t mention names, online users were quick to connect the dots, believing it to be a pointed remark at Diljit Dosanjh, who holds Canadian citizenship and has been silent on the uproar surrounding his film.

In a follow-up tweet, Guru further wrote, “When the PR team is more talented than the talent itself, controversies become part of the daily routine. The day is near when our people will open their eyes and know the truth. LOL. 1st of every month, dropping bombs. God bless the fake PR and the artists.”

The singer got backlash for his indirect jibe at Diljit as many netizens called it uncalled for. Many accused him of stirring controversy under the guise of patriotism.

The ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ controversy

Diljit’s upcoming film 'Sardaar Ji 3', co-starring Neeru Bajwa and Hania Aamir, has become the centre of a political and social storm. Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, particularly following the Pahalgam terror attack in April and the Indian Air Force’s Operation Sindoor in May, the casting of a Pakistani actress has stirred widespread anger.

The film is scheduled for release only overseas on June 27, skipping Indian cinemas altogether. The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) have called for a boycott of Diljit and his future projects. Even singer Mika Singh has chimed in, saying that Diljit should issue a public apology.
