Chitra Cinema In Mumbai Catches Fire In Canteen Area; People Evacuated Safely

A part of Chitra Cinema located in the Dadar area of Mumbai caught fire on Saturday afternoon. The BMC alleged that no injury occured in the fire incident.

New Delhi: A part of Chitra Cinema located in the Dadar area of Mumbai caught fire on Saturday afternoon. The BMC alleged that no injury occured in the fire incident. The fire broke out in the canteen area and officials from the fire department were able to control it easily.

The fire was confined to electriv oven, food items, electric installation and wiring. The authorities evacuated the theatre for safety reasons. The fire erupted at around 3:15 PM but was put out within ten minutes, an official was quoted by news agency PTI.

After the fire broke out, moviegoers and staff were evacuated. The people were rushed out for safety reasons by Mumbai Fire Brigade( MFB). 

A statement from the Chitra Cinema's team was released post the fire incident which read, "We wish to address the recent unfortunate incident that occurred at Chitra Cinema Hall in Dadar on Sunday afternoon. First and foremost, we are grateful to confirm that no injuries have been sustained, as verified by the BMC. The fire, which originated in the canteen area, was swiftly brought under control. The Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) responded promptly and effectively, evacuating the theatre as a precautionary measure."

"We understand that this incident may have caused concern, and we apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused. Our cinema will resume operations shortly after the safety checks are completed, and we will keep our customers informed throughout this process," the management team's note read.
