When Amrita Singh Shared About Dealing With Insecurities As A Star Wife, Said Saif Ali Khan Was 'Never A Demanding Husband'

New Delhi: In a recently resurfaced interview clip, actress Amrita Singh discussed her life after her 2004 divorce from Saif Ali Khan. The duo got separated after 13 years of marriage. Amrita Singh candidly discussed the impact of her marriage on her personal well-being. She clarified that she was a celebrity before becoming a star wife.

In an old interview with Pooja Bedi on Zoom, Amrita Singh reflected on her post-marriage life. She said, “I became lazy and complacent after marriage. Someone told me that women have this great urge to nest and I started looking like a fat ostrich in a nest. I was just happy and living in my la la land.”

Amrita also talked about the challenges of being married to a star who is often surrounded by attractive women. She said, “Being a star wife, the insecurities are unhealthy. They can damage your mind. So, if you are an insecure person, you’re not going to be happy being a star wife.”

Regarding the insecurities, she said she didn't spend much time feeling insecure. "But it was time enough to damage my mind," she added. 

In the same conversion, Amrita said, “Saif was never a very demanding husband.”

She also said that Saif didn't make her feel bad about herself, but he did suggest that she should attend a gym. "But I'm a kind of person who has to feel it for myself. Nobody can make me do anything," she said.

Sharmila Tagore On Saif Ali Khan And Amrita Singh's Divorce 

Saif Ali Khan and his mother Sharmila Tagore were part of the tenth episode of Karan Johar's ‘Koffee With Karan season 8’. During the chat, Sharmila Tagore shared that Saif and Amrita did not part ways amicably. She said, “When you are together for such a long time and you have such lovely children, then no break up is easy. Then it is not a harmonious… I know it is difficult to have harmony at that stage, everybody is hurt… so that stage was not nice but I tried. But that's water under the bridge, she needed time to cool down.”

On the work front, Amrita Singh was last seen on-screen in 2022’s ‘Heropanti 2’, which featured Tiger Shroff, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Tara Sutaria in lead roles.
