An old interview clip of Ravi Shastri has gone viral on social media, where he opens up about his past relationship with Bollywood actress Amrita Singh.

Ravi Shastri viral video: Ravi Shastri is a well-known figure in the world of cricket. Renowned not only for his all-rounder skills on the field but also for his forthright commentary, Shastri is known for his candid remarks and opinions. It is well known that the cricketer once dated actress Amrita Singh. In the 1980s, their relationship was much talked about, and rumours even suggested that they were engaged. However, for reasons that were never made public, the couple eventually went their separate ways. Recently, an old interview clip of Ravi Shastri has gone viral on social media, where he opens up about his past relationship with Bollywood actress Amrita Singh.

Ravi Shastri called Amrita Singh his girlfriend

In the video, Shastri recalls meeting Amrita for the first time and refers to her as his “girlfriend” and shares an anecdote about their first encounter. Shastri says, "When I met my girlfriend for the first time..." The interviewer then interrupts to ask, "Which girlfriend?" to which Shastri responds, "Amrita is her name." When the interviewer further clarifies, "Amrita Singh?" Shastri confirms, "Yes, the one from the movies." He goes on to describe their first meeting, saying, "When I met her for the first time, I didn’t say a word for the first ten minutes. I knew I was shy around girls, but I didn’t expect to be so tongue-tied. She kept talking for the entire ten minutes. It was quite an embarrassing moment for me."

Ravi Shastri was a star in the cricket world while Amrita Singh was a rising star in Bollywood. Amrita later married actor Saif Ali Khan and they parted ways in 2004.

What Sharmila Tagore said about Amrita Singh and Saif Ali Khan's divorce

On Koffee With Karan last year, Saif Ali Khan’s mother, the veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, opened up about the difficult period following Saif separation from Amrita. "When you are together for such a long time and you have such lovely children, then no break-up is easy. It was not harmonious… I know it is difficult to have harmony at that stage, everybody is hurt… so that stage was not nice, but I tried. But that’s water under the bridge; she needed time to cool down and they worked it out together," Sharmila said.

Sharmila also touched on the emotional toll the separation took on the family, particularly on her late husband, the legendary actor Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, fondly known as Tiger. "It’s not just staying away; there are so many other things that are involved. It wasn’t a happy time for us because Ibrahim was just three, and we were very fond of the children. Especially, Tiger was really fond of Ibrahim and he would say, ‘That’s a good lad.’ He didn’t get that time with him. So we felt doubly deprived to lose Amrita and lose the two kids. So it’s just not him but we also had to adjust to all that," Sharmila added.
