Pakistani actor Danish Taimoor has issued a public apology after his recent comments on polygamy sparked widespread backlash on social media. Danish Taimoor apologises for his comment
Addressing the controversy, Taimoor acknowledged that his choice of words may not have been ideal but insisted that he never intended to disrespect his wife. In the video, he stated, "Mai janta hu aap log mujse thoda sa naaraz hai. Uss din joh bhi incident hua hai, kuch logo ko lagta hai ki shayad maine disrespect kiya hai apni biwi ko, toh aisa hargiz nahi hai. Meri koi aisi intention nahi thi, mai bohot pyaar karta hu usse. Shayad alfaaz ka chunav joh hai voh shayad sahi nahi hua hai (I know you guys are upset with me. I understand that people feel I have disrespected my wife after the incident that happened a few days back. I want to assure you all that this is not the case. I never intended it that way. I love my wife a lot. I probably didn't pick the right words to express my feelings)."

Taimoor further defended himself by pointing out his 18-year-long career, free of controversy, and urged people to let go of the issue. "It's been almost 18 years now. Kabhi zindagi mai koi controversy bani nahi hai aur mai chahunga iss baat ko hum yahi khatam kare kyuki jab meri niyat aur mera dil hi nahi hai aisa toh baat ko badane ka koi fayda nahi hai (There has not been any controversy in my name for around 18 years. I would want this issue to end right here, right now. If my intention and my heart are pure, what's the point of escalating the issue any further?)," he said.
Concluding his message, Taimoor offered a heartfelt apology, saying, "Main dil se sorry kehta hu (I apologise from the bottom of my heart)."
What Danish Taimoor had said
The controversy began during a television appearance where Taimoor was accompanied by his wife, Ayeza Khan. During the show, he made a remark about polygamy, stating that his faith permits him to marry up to four times but clarifying that he had no intention of doing so for now.
Danish said, "Mujhe Allah ne ijazat di hai 4 shadioun ki, main kar nahi raha hun woh alag baat hai, lekin yeh ijazat mujhe Allah ne di hui hai, woh mujhse koi cheen nahi sakta hai" (Allah has given me permission to marry four times, it is another thing I am not marrying but Allah has given me the permission that nobody can snatch it from me).
"...Allah has given me the right to marry 4 women—be grateful I’m sparing you..."
