Need To Change Your Name Or Address On Aadhaar Card? Here’s How To Do It Online
UIDAI emphasises that keeping Aadhaar details accurate is crucial, particularly for those who have not updated their information in the last 10 years.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is offering Aadhaar cardholders the opportunity to update their details—such as name, address, and date of birth—without any charges until June 14, 2025. This facility allows individuals to make necessary changes online, making the process more accessible and convenient.
Importance of Updating Aadhaar
UIDAI emphasises that keeping Aadhaar details accurate is crucial, particularly for those who have not updated their information in the last 10 years. Regular updates provide several advantages, including:
- Maintaining correct and updated records.
- Ensuring seamless access to government and private sector services.
- Improving authentication success rates for Aadhaar-linked transactions.
Cardholders are encouraged to utilise this free update window to avoid potential service disruptions due to outdated information.

How To Update Aadhaar Card Online?
To update your Aadhaar documents, visit the UIDAI website at https://uidai.gov.in/en/ . Here, click on ‘Document Update’ tab in the MyAadhaar drop down menu.
This will take you to https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/du/en_IN. Opt for the ‘Click to Submit’ option here.
Now, you will need to enter your Aadhaar number, type the captcha mentioned, and click ‘Login with OTP’.
Once you type in the OTP received on the mobile number linked with your Aadhaar, you will be able to log in to the system.
Now, under Services, click on the Document Update option.
As you will see on the screen, this service is free of cost for users till June 14, 2025. Click on Next.
Now, verify your demographic details by checking your name, gender, date of birth, and address mentioned. Make sure you also check the spellings. Once these details are verified, click on Next.
Now, the system will require you to submit proof of identity and proof of address documents. These documents should be less than 2 MB in size and must be uploaded in JPEG, PNG and PDF file formats.
Acceptable Proof of Identity documents include marriage certificate, driving license, passport, PAN card, etc. For Proof of Address, documents like electricity bill, gas connection bill, bank statements, voter identity card, etc are valid.
Once you have submitted these documents, note down the service request number as this will help you track the progress in your Aadhaar application.
You can opt to get a laminated copy of the Aadhaar in mail from the government or download the document in its digital form after the changes have been made.
