Marathi Actor Vijay Kadam Passes Away After Battle With Cancer

Vijay Kadam passed away early this morning at the age of 67.

New Delhi: The Marathi cinema community mourns the loss of veteran actor Vijay Kadam, who passed away early this morning at the age of 67. Renowned for his versatility in both comedic and serious roles, Vijay Kadam succumbed to a prolonged battle with cancer.

On Saturday afternoon, the cremation of Vijay Kadam will take place in the Andheri-Oshiwara crematorium. His family includes his kid and wife.

Jaywant Wadkar, an actor and friend of Vijay Kadam's, confirmed the actor's death to ANI. He told, "He had been courageously fighting cancer. Initially, he recovered but his health eventually deteriorated. Around 25 days ago, he even got an acidity attack."

Jaywant also added, "He was extremely talented. From Marathi cinema to Hindi films, he explored different kinds of projects in his decades-long career. It's impossible to find an actor like him again. His death has left a void in the industry. He's like my family."

Vijay Kadam, a prominent figure in Marathi films, serials, and theatre during the 1980s and 90s, had been courageously fighting cancer for the past year and a half. Despite initially overcoming the illness, the cancer relapsed. He was receiving treatment at a hospital in Andheri, Mumbai, but tragically, he passed away at his home today.

In the 1980s, Kadam made his mark in Marathi theater with memorable roles in plays such as ‘Rathachakra’ and ‘Durit’. He was particularly known for his comedic performances in films like ‘Chashme Bahaddar’, ‘Police Line’, and ‘Halad Rusli Kunku Hasala’.
