India's Got Latent Row: Vishal Dadlani Defends Samay Raina By Calling The Outrage 'Nonsense'

Vishal Dadlani slams govt's attempt to control online content amid Samay Raina's legal trouble over an inappropriate joke.

New Delhi: Ranveer Allahbadia's controversial joke on ‘India's Got Latent’ has put comedian Samay Raina in serious trouble. Outrage has been triggered by the joke, which included a nasty remark about "parental sex." However, Music composer Vishal Dadlani has defended Raina, calling the outcry "nonsense."

Vishal, who has been the panellist on ‘India's Got Latent’, shared his thoughts on the current controversy. Taking to Instagram stories, he said that it was a way for the government to control online material and take attention away from more important problems.

Referring to Ranveer Allahbadia's joke, Vishal Dadlani wrote, "Would you let #SamayRaina feel up your hairy arms every day, or join in once to stop the absolutely hypocritical prudish nonsense that's going on right now?"

He continued by saying, "The government wanted to control online content. They've been trying and getting stopped for a long time. Now, in this wave of TV-generated outrage, people are giving away their own freedom. Not to mention… 'what Kumbh stampede-deaths?' Samjhe?"

About ‘India's Got Latent’ Controversy

Samay Raina has been prohibited by the Supreme Court from hosting any further episodes of ‘India's Got Latent’ till further notice. In the midst of all this legal drama, Samay Raina has removed every episode of 'India's Got Latent' off his YouTube site and is on a stand-up tour in the US and Canada with Samay Raina Unfiltered.

Samay addressed the situation on social media saying, “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India’s Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you.”

The Indian Supreme Court has also criticised Ranveer for his comments on Samay's program and ordered him to turn up his passport, prohibiting him from leaving the nation without permission.
