Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh's sold-out concerts across India were marked by their share of controversies, the major being advisories issued during his concerts, asking him to refrain from performing songs referencing alcohol and violence. Diljit complied by modifying his lyrics but didn’t hold back from addressing the matter. “If all states ban liquor consumption, I will never sing a song about alcohol in my entire life,” he asserted.

Interestingly, Diljit found an ally in rapper Honey Singh, who voiced his support for the singer while highlighting the hypocrisy of such advisories. Speaking to India Today, Honey Singh pointed out the contradiction, saying, “They aren’t shutting down liquor stores. Let them make it a dry state, and make India a dry country. Then we can have a conversation about all this.”
Despite his well-known association with songs featuring alcohol references, Honey Singh revealed that he has quit drinking and humorously suggested an alternative. “We’ll definitely join this campaign. We’ll sing a song about lassi, about chhaas, about jal jeera. You know, something similar,” he joked.

When asked how directives like these would affect his popular track “Char Bottle Vodka,” Singh quipped that it would simply be an instrumental piece. He also addressed the deeper cultural context of alcohol references, explaining that drinking isn’t limited to Punjab but is woven into celebrations across various communities. “We go to parties; people are drinking. We go to weddings; people are drinking. It’s in the culture, not just in Punjab,” he added.
