Shah Rukh Khan’s sea-facing bungalow Mannat is currently undergoing a major transformation. The superstar and his family moved out earlier this year as renovations began on the sprawling heritage property, which has been SRK’s home since 2001. Gauri Khan has now given an update about the renovation.
Gauri Khan shares update about Mannat's renovation
Under the creative direction of Gauri Khan—who has carved a niche for herself in the world of interior design—the landmark residence is all set to expand vertically, with two brand-new floors in the works. Gauri spoke to News18 about the ongoing construction and shared that while there’s no fixed completion date yet, the upgraded version of Mannat should be ready by next year.
Apart from redesigning her own home, Gauri has also been expanding her business footprint, with new office spaces coming up in Delhi. The first visible change at Mannat during this renovation phase was the much-talked-about nameplate—replacing the glitzy diamond-studded version with a sleeker brown-and-silver design.
Khan family's new abode
In the meantime, Shah Rukh, Gauri, and their children—Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam—have moved into a lavish rented duplex in Bandra’s upscale Pali Hill area. The temporary residence is spread across two apartments in Puja Casa, a building owned by producer Vashu Bhagnani. According to reports, the family is shelling out Rs 24 lakh per month in rent for the duplex. Additionally, a separate accommodation costing Rs 1.25 lakh per month has been leased nearby in Pankaj Society for the family’s staff, just 100 metres from the main rental home.
A look back at Mannat’s legacy
Originally known as Villa Vienna, the property was renamed Mannat by Shah Rukh Khan after he purchased it in 2001. The house is not just a residence but a symbol of the actor’s journey and dreams fulfilled. Due to its classification as a Grade III heritage structure, Shah Rukh was prohibited from making any structural alterations to the original bungalow. Instead, a six-storey annexe was constructed at the rear, designed by Gauri Khan along with architect Kaif Faquih.
The home today includes luxe amenities such as a private theatre, a fully-equipped gym, and a swimming pool, all peppered with memorabilia that reflect Shah Rukh’s decades-long Bollywood journey.
