Unemployment, Discrimination Stem From Modi's 'Niyat', 'Niti': Sonia Gandhi Slams PM

Lashing out at PM Modi, Sonia Gandhi said that challenges like unemployment, and discrimination have stemmed from ‘niyat’ and ‘niti’ of the Prime Minister.

In a video statement, Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Sunday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of “spreading hatred” just to secure power “at any cost”. She further called upon voters to rally behind her party, citing concerns over the state of the democracy and Constitution in the country. Lashing out at the saffron party and the Prime Minister, the former Congress chief said that challenges like "Youth unemployment, crimes against women, and discrimination against Dalits, Adivasis, and minorities" stem from PM Modi's 'niyat' and 'niti'. 

“Youth unemployment, crimes against women, and discrimination against Dalits, Adivasis, and minorities have reached unprecedented levels. These challenges stem from the ‘niyat’ and ‘niti’ of PM Modi and the BJP which aim for power rejecting inclusivity and dialogue,” Gandhi asserted.

“The sight of our Constitution and democracy being under threat, our poor being left behind, and the fact that the fabric of our society is being torn apart fills me with anguish,” she added further. 

Her remarks came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP leaders slammed the grand old party's manifesto. She appealed for support, highlighting the party’s manifesto, “Today, I ask for your support once again. Our ‘Nyay Patra’ and guarantees aim to unite our nation and work for the poor, youth, women, farmers, workers, and the disadvantaged communities of India.”

Reject Proponents Of Lies And Hatred: Sonia Urges Voters To Choose Congress

Sonia, in her video statement, further urged voters to reject “falsehoods and animosity,” and asked them to vote the Congress to ensure a “brighter future”. “Reject the proponents of lies and hatred and vote for the Congress for a brighter and more equal future for all. Press the hand button and together, let us build a stronger, more united India with peace and harmony for all," she said, adding, “The Congress and the I.N.D.I.A parties are committed to defend our Constitution and democracy”. 

Recently, the Congress party unveiled its star campaigner for the Lok Sabha elections in Haryana, with Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and Kumari Shelja among key leaders leading the charge. 

The campaign roster further included names of Priyanka Gandhi, Randeep Singh Surjewalam and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
