Sikkim Assembly Elections 2024 Result: SKM Maintains Lead On 24 Seats, SDM Trails In Early Trends
According to the Election Commission, the early trends suggest Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) is leading with 24 seats and Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) has bagged just one seat.

With the curtians drawn on the Lok Sabha elections 2024 on Saturday, the counting of votes for the 32 Assembly seats in Sikkim has begun today amid tight security arrangements. The counting is underway at one location each in all six districts of the northeastern state. According to the Election Commission, the early trends suggest Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) is leading on with 24 seats and Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) has bagged just one seat.
The majority mark in the Sikkim Assembly is 17 out of 32 Assembly seats.
Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang who is contesting from two assembly constituencies Rhenock and Soreng Chakung is leading from Rhenock with 1423 votes.
The early trends show that SDF has secured a 27.92 percent vote share, while SKM is leading on with 57.10 percent vote share.
The officials told news agency PTI that the postal ballots will be taken up first for counting. The votes in the EVMs will be counted later.
SP Mangan Sonam D Bhutia stated that the counting of votes for Assembly seats began at 6 am. "As per our inputs, there will be no violence. Forces have been deployed in vulnerable areas. The situation is under control."

Among the 146 nominees, the prominent candidates include Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, his spouse Krishna Kumari Rai, former Indian footballer and SDF leader Bhaichung Bhatia, ex-Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling, state BJP president DR Thapa, senior minister Lunga Nima Lepcha, and Speaker Arun Upreti.
Former CM Chamling is also contesting from two assembly constituencies — Namcheybung and Poklok Kamrang.
Voting was conducted in Sikkim on April 19 when an estimated 80 per cent of the 4.64 lakh voters exercised their franchise.
According to the CEO Sikkim, an additional four percent votes were cast through post by government officials and employees.
SDF vice-president and footballer Bhaichung Bhutia is in fray from the Barfung assembly constituency.
Meanwhile, DR Thapa, the state unit BJP president is seeking a re-election from Upper Burtuk.
Chief Minister Tamang's wife Krishna Kumari Rai is contesting from the Namchi Singhithang seat, while Speaker Arun Upreti is in the fray from the Arithang constituency.
