Arunachal Pradesh Election Result 2024: BJP Leads On 11 Seats, NPEP On 2 In Early Trends

Arunachal Pradesh Election Result 2024: BJP is leading in the early trends followed by NPEP and PPA.

Bharatiya Janata Party maintained a lead in the early trends for the results of elections to Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly followed by National People's Party. As per the trends released by the Election Commission of India, BJP led on 17 seats followed by Congrad Sangma-led NPEP on 2 seats.

People's Party of Arunachal led on one seat while an Independent candidate also led on one seat. 

Counting is underway for 50 assembly seats in the Himalayan state with a massive security cover in place.

The counting commenced in 24-district headquarter at 6 am amid heavy rains across the state and the final result is expected to be out by noon, as per Chief Election Officer Pawan Kumar Sain.

Arunachal Pradesh has 60 assembly seats and two Lok Sabha seats and the saffron party has already won 10 assembly seats unopposed. Counting of postal ballots took place first which followed by counting of votes in EVMs, Sain said.

The counting process is being managed by over 2,000 officials at 24 centres, as per a PTI report. 

"Three-tier security arrangements have been made in all counting centres. All preparations for counting, including the final round of training for officials, have been completed," he said.

An estimated 82.71 per cent of voters cast their votes in the assembly polls sealing the fate of 133 candidates while the turnout for the two Lok Sabha seats in the state was recorded at 77.51 per cent.

"Media centers will be set up in all counting centers to provide real-time updates," the polling official added.

In the 2019 polls, the BJP had won both the Lok Sabha seats and 41 assembly constituencies. Seven assembly seats were won by JD(U) while NPP won five, Congress four and the PPA one. Two Independent candidates had also emerged victorious.
