PMK-BJP Alliance
On Tuesday, BJP sealed the alliance with PMK and finalised the seat-sharing deal at PMK chief Ramadoss' residence in Thailapuram of Villupuram district.
The BJP allotted 10 seats to the party.
The PMK is a political entity wielding considerable sway in select northern districts of the state, primarily backed by the Vanniyar community.
The PMK contested Lok Sabha Elections 2019 in alliance with AIADMK and BJP in the state. However, as AIADMK severed ties with NDA, the party allied with BJP in Tamil Nadu.
Addressing the reporters, PMK President Anbumani Ramadoss said, "For the last 10 years, PMK has been part of the NDA in Delhi. Today, PMK has decided to join the NDA in Tamil Nadu and an agreement was signed. We are happy that we have joined the NDA in Tamil Nadu for a change."
"The last 57-58 years have seen that the parties have ruled and ruined Tamil Nadu. People want a change and we want a change. PM Modi will definitely become the Prime Minister for the third time in India and take India to greater heights. PMK has been allotted 10 parliamentary constituencies in Tamil Nadu and we are confident that we will have a great victory in the coming elections in Tamil Nadu as well as India," he said, as per a report on ANI.
