'Modi Will Lead BJP Even After 2029': Amit Shah Responds To Congress, AAP's 'PM Retiring' Jab

Arvind Kejriwal, in his first press conference after being released from jail, attacked PM Modi and questioned the BJP who will be NDA's PM face as PM Modi will turn 75 next year.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday responded to the opposition's 'retirement jab' on the Prime Minister saying that PM Narendra Modi will lead the nation even after 2029.

"PM Modi is going to become the Prime Minister for the third term and he would continue to lead the BJP not just in 2029, but even after that," Shah said in an interview to ABP News.

Shah was responding to the opposition attacking the prime minister on the retirement age saying that PM Modi is turning 75 next year.

Delhi CM and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, in his first press conference after being released from jail, attacked PM Modi and questioned the BJP who will be NDA's PM face as PM Modi will turn 75 next year.

Kejriwal was referring to BJP's unofficial retirement rule for leaders aged 75 and went on to ask if PM Modi will be retiring in 2025 as he will turn 75 on September 17 that year.

"PM Modi is turning 75, on 17th September. He made a rule that leaders in the party would retire after 75 years. Lal Krishna Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Sumitra Mahajan, and Yashwant Sinha were retired and now PM Modi is going to retire on 17th September," Kejriwal said.

Responding to Kejriwal, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while speaking in a rally in Hyderabad, stated firmly that PM Modi will serve his third term as PM.

“I want to tell Arvind Kejriwal and the INDIA alliance that there is no need to be happy about Modiji turning 75. It is not written in the Constitution of the BJP that Modiji cannot become prime minister. He will again become prime minister and complete the term,” Shah said.
