Amit Shah Dismisses Delhi CM Kejriwal's Claim On PM Modi's 'Retirement', Says 'No Good News For INDI Alliance'

Amidst election tensions, Amit Shah denies Arvind Kejriwal's claim that he will succeed Modi as PM. Shah emphasises Modi's continued leadership, clarifying that there is no provision for leadership transition in BJP's constitution.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah rebuffed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's assertion that he would become Prime Minister after Narendra Modi, emphasising there's "no confusion in BJP" regarding leadership succession. Shah's remarks came amidst a heated exchange between the ruling BJP and opposition parties, particularly the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

Shah clarified the BJP's stance, stating, "PM Modi is only going to complete this tenure and PM Modi will continue to lead the country in the future." He further added, "Nothing as such is mentioned in BJP's constitution," addressing Kejriwal's claim. The Home Minister's comments were made in response to Kejriwal's statement wherein he alleged BJP's plans to replace Modi with Shah if they win the elections.

Regarding Kejriwal's interim bail and subsequent remarks, Shah remarked, "Arvind Kejriwal has been given interim bail to hold election campaigns," highlighting that the bail is temporary, and Kejriwal is expected to surrender on 2nd June. Shah critiqued Kejriwal's interpretation of the bail as a "clean chit," suggesting a misunderstanding of legal procedures.

Speaking to news agency ANI, he further remarked, "The people of this country, be it from East, West, North, South or Northeast, they are standing with Modi. All the leaders of the INDI alliance know that we are going to cross 400 seats and Modi ji will become the PM of this country for the third time, that is why they are spreading this type of misconception. I want to clarify that there is no such provision in BJP's constitution and Modi ji will lead the country till 2029 and Modi ji will also lead the coming elections. There is no good news for INDI alliance. They have no reason to be happy...They cannot win elections by spreading such lies..."

Similar to Shah's remarks, BJP national president JP Nadda condemned Kejriwal and opposition parties for attempting to mislead the public. Nadda asserted, "The opposition should not be happy, it should not have any illusions. Modiji is our leader and will continue to lead us in the future too. INDI alliance and the leader who came out of jail on bail also knows that "Modi will come, Modi will stay, Modi will make India strong," dismissing claims of BJP's leadership transition.

Delhi CM Kejriwal's Claims On PM Modi's 'Retirement'

Earlier in a presser at the AAP office, Kejriwal had claimed BJP's intentions to replace Modi due to his age. He referenced BJP's unofficial retirement rule for leaders aged 75, claiming Modi's impending retirement and Shah's elevation to PM. Kejriwal also accused BJP of planning changes in state leadership, specifically targeting Uttar Pradesh's Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

According to ANI, Kejriwal remarked, "...PM Modi is turning 75, on 17th September. He made a rule that leaders in the party would retire after 75 years...LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Sumitra Mahajan, and Yashwant Sinha were retired and now PM Modi is going to retire on 17th September..."

Furthermore, Kejriwal criticised BJP's governance, accusing them of protecting corrupt individuals and suppressing dissent. He highlighted AAP's anti-corruption efforts, claiming to have jailed corrupt officials, even from within their own ranks. Kejriwal's remarks came amidst a charged political atmosphere, with both BJP and opposition parties intensifying their rhetoric amid the Lok Sabha elections. More On It: 'AAP To Be Part Of Centre On June 4': Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann's Big Prediction On Lok Sabha Polls — WATCH
