Exit Polls 2024: Will BJP-JDS Face Defeat In Karnataka's Hassan Over Prajwal Revanna's Obscene Video Case?

The 2024 exit polls have predicted massive NDA gains in Southern India. But with suspended JD(S) candidate Prajwal Revanna facing rape charges, can the bj-JD(S) alliance hope for a win in Hassan?

Exit Polls 2024: With the BJP making big gains in the South, all eyes will be on the Hassan Lok Sabha seat in Karnataka on June 4. Suspended JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna, who was arrested on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday in the Karnataka sex scandal case, is the incumbent MP and the candidate for the BJP-JD(S) alliance in the state.

The India Today-Axis My India Exit Poll has predicted a victory for the suspended Janata Dal (Secular) MP Prajwal Revanna from Hassan Lok Sabha seat. Prajwal Revanna is currently in police custody, facing rape and molestation charges.

According to the exit poll survey, the Hassan MP is likely to defeat Congress candidate Shreyas Patel. Voting was held in Hassan in the second phase. Prajwal Revanna's alleged sex scandal came to light during the voting on April 26. Janata Dal-Secular (JDS) has been winning the Hassan seat since 2004. This time, too, it called dibs in the alliance with BJP.

BJP Bit The Dust In 2019 In Hassan

In 2019, Prajwal Revanna defeated A Manju of the Bharatiya Janata Party by a margin of 1.4 lakh votes. JD-S and BJP were not in an alliance in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Former Prime Minister and JDS supremo HD Deve Gowda had defeated the Congress candidate by one lakh votes in the 2014 general elections.

How Many Seats Will Congress Get In Karnataka?

Meanwhile, the BJP-led NDA is likely to clean sweep in Karnataka. The India Today-Axis My India exit poll predicted that the ruling coalition is set to win between 20 and 22 seats in the southern state, while the Congress, which won a landslide victory in the assembly elections last year, is likely to get three to five seats. The ABP-CVoter Exit Poll survey, too, projected 3-5 seats for the INDIA bloc in Karnataka.

However, the exit polls have predicted a slight decrease in the vote share of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The vote share of the Congress, which is in power in the state, is expected to increase. Karnataka had two phases of voting to elect 28 MPs to the Lok Sabha. The second and third phases of voting in the state were held on April 26 and May 7.
