Karnataka Polls: CPI To Back Congress Without Any Pre-Condition On 215 Seats, Friendly Contest On 7
Karnataka Assembly Elections: Congress has said that CPI will support the grad-old party in the upcoming polls on 215 seats while a friendly contest will happen on 7 others.
Karnataka Elections 2023: The Congress party on Sunday said that CPI will support it without any pre-condition on 215 seats in the upcoming state assembly polls while a friendly contest will take place on the remaining 7. Party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala made the announcement and said that Congress reached out to CPI and was assured of the said arrangement. He said that the Communist party's cadre will 'whole-heartedly, without any pre-condition or expectation', support the Congress candidates in elections.
"They have fielded 7 candidates & they were going to field more. They agreed that there will be a friendly contest on the 7 seats but on all remaining 215 seats, the entire CPI cadre will whole-heartedly, without any pre-condition or expectation, support the Congress candidates in this fight against the BJP," Surjewala said, as quoted by ANI.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who vacated his official bungalow on Saturday nearly a month after he was disqualified as a Lok Sabha MP following his conviction in the 2019 Modi surname defamation case, arrived in Hubbali, Karnataka on Sunday. Gandhi has arrived in the poll-bound state for a two-day visit.
During his visit he will attend a series of events including a visit to temples, interaction with people and addressing the public, the Congress party said on Saturday. According to his schedule, the former Congress chief will reach Hubballi at 10.30 AM and then he will fly to Kudala Sangama in Bagalkote by helicopter.
Kudala Sangama is an important pilgrimage of the Lingayat sect, one the major dominant communities of Karnataka. The place has the Aikya Mantapa of the founder of the 12th century AD social reformer and the founder of the Lingayat sect Basaveshwara.
The Congress leader will pay his obeisance to the Sangamanatha temple and the Aikya Linga. He will also participate in the Basava Jayanti celebration organised by the Utsava Samiti of Basava Mantapa, as reported by news agency PTI. Gandhi will then participate in ‘Jana Samparka’ (public contact) and address people in Vijayapura at Shivaji Circle. On Monday afternoon, the former Congress president will interact with sugarcane growers in Ramdurg in Belagavi. Further, he will travel to Gadag to take part in 'Yuva Samvaad' (interaction with youths). In the evening, he will hold a public meeting in Hangal in the Haveri district.
