'Cash-For-Votes': Congress Accuses AAP Of Routing Cash From Punjab To Delhi, Demands Checking Of Police Cars

Delhi Congress leader Sandeep Dixit has alleged that crores of rupees are being transported into Delhi for elections by the AAP government in Punjab.

In a fresh twist to the alleged 'cash for votes' scam in Delhi, the AAP's INDIA partner Congress has submitted a complaint to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena alleging that cash worth crores is being brought to Delhi for the elections. In the letter, Congress leader Sandeep Dixit demanded the checking of all Punjab Police vehicles or vehicles escorted by Punjab Police entering Delhi.

"I have received information from some bureaucrats and Police officers serving in the Punjab Government [who obviously do not want their names to be revealed] that the AAP Government in Punjab has been transferring cash [in crores] from various locations in Punjab to Delhi. I have checked this information from my known officials in Punjab Government who have confirmed my information," Dixit's letter to the L-G read.

The letter comes at a time when the Aam Aadmi Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party are locked in a vicious battle over the alleged 'cash for votes' scam. Congress leader Sandeep Dixit is the party's candidate against Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi Assembly constituency.

"I request you to kindly inform DGP Punjab about this, and the Governments of Haryana, and Government of Rajasthan through whose territories many Punjab Police cars, private cars with Punjab Police escorts etc. are being sent to Delhi. Further all vehicles entering Delhi may be checked, especially vehicles of Punjab Police/ Government or with Punjab police personnel," he alleged.

"Mass scale movement of illegal money for elections of the scale is being reported. [It] is a very serious offence and we pray that all official machinery is utilised to prevent this," he alleged.
