Over 19% Voter Turnout In Chhattisgarh, 28.32% In Madhya Pradesh Till 11 AM As Polling Underway

A voter turnout of 19.67 per cent has been recorded in Chhattisgarh and 28.32 per cent in Madhya Pradesh till 11 am, according to the data of the Election Commission of India.

Elections 2023: Voting is underway for the 230-seat Madhya Pradesh assembly and 70 seats of the 90 assembly constituencies in Chhattisgarh in the second phase of polling on Friday. As of 11 am, a turnout of 19.67 per cent was recorded in Chhattisgarh while 28.32 per cent of voters turned up to exercise their franchise in Madhya Pradesh, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI) data.

Proper arrangements have been made, especially in Chhattisgarh, to conduct smooth and fair voting. Madhya Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan said that polling is going on and wherever there were problems in EVM and VVPAT, immediately they were changed.

"...According to the figures that I have until 9  am, 11.95% of the voting has been done in the state..." he said.

Meanwhile, a report of violence has come from two polling booths -- 147 and 148 -- of the Dimani Assembly constituency at Mirghan in the Morena district of Madhya Pradesh where two groups resorted to stone pelting, police said. According to ANI, one person was injured in the incident. Police have said the situation was under control and adequate security deployment has been made at the spot following the clashes.

Gwalior DM Akshay Kumar Singh gave details about the Integrated Command Centre (Control Room) set up in the city. He said, "Separate screens are installed for each Assembly constituency and monitoring is being done through webcasting. Telephone calls are being responded by our control room team." 

Amid the polling, Chhattisgarh Deputy CM and party candidate from Ambikapur, TS Singh Deo offered prayers at Mahamaya Temple in Ambikapur and said, "We are very sure of our victory...There are positive reports everywhere..."
