‘Anti-Social Elements Pose Threat To Sandeshkhali Women’: JP Nadda Says Mamata Spreading ‘Anarchy’ In Bengal

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda voiced concern over the “anarchy” caused by the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Days after the Central Bureau of Investigation recovered a huge amount of arms and ammunition in Sandeshkhali, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda on Sunday voiced concern over the “anarchy” caused by the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He, in a strong criticism, said that Banerjee’s government is fostering an environment of lawlessness and endangering the safety of women.

“We have seen how in Mamata Banerjee's government, anti-social elements like Sheikh Shahjahan of Trinamool Congress are posing a threat to the existence of women in Sandeshkhali...Officials of the investigating agencies who had gone to Sandeshkhali to protect the honour and dignity of women were attacked,” the BJP chief said.

“During the search in Sandeshkhali, CBI recovered 3 foreign revolvers, 1 revolver used by police, 1 foreign pistol, several bullets, and cartridges. NSG commandos also had to go there to protect the people in Sandeshkhali,” he added.

“From this, we can understand how Mamata Banerjee's government is spreading anarchy in West Bengal...The public will give you a befitting reply and BJP will win more than 35 seats in West Bengal..,” Nadda remarked.

Earlier on Saturday, Bengal Assembly’s Leader of Opposition (LoP) Suvendu Adhikari had demanded the declaration of Trinamool Congress (TMC) as a “terrorist organisation”. Click here to read more.

This comes after the CBI recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition in Sandeshkhali.

On Friday, the central probing agency revealed a cache of weaponry, including foreign-made pistols and revolvers, believed to be linked to the January attack on an Enforcement Directorate (ED) team. The assault was allegedly instigated by now-suspended TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh.

Among the items seized were three foreign-made revolvers, one foreign-made pistol, and a substantial quantity of ammunition. Additionally, several incriminating documents relating to the former TMC leader were also found.

The operation involved teams from the CBI, bomb squad, National Security Guards (NSG), central paramilitary forces, and West Bengal Police.

The searches, conducted until Friday afternoon, were initiated after three FIRs were filed by the CBI following the attack on the ED team in Sandeshkhalu on January 5.
