Bolstered by the NEP 2020, more number of IITs are gearing up to roll down new multidisciplinary programmes in the coming days.

When we think of IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology), the first thing that pops inside our minds is engineering and technology, and for all the right reasons. These premier institutes have evolved as the pioneers in education in the fields of engineering, sciences and technology, in the Indian subcontinent. Some of the older and prestigious IITs like the IIT Mumbai, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, and IIT Kharagpur are not only ranked among the finest education institutions in India, but also enjoy high international recognition.

Every year, thousands of aspirants apply for the JEE (Joint Engineering Examination), JAM (Joint Admission Test for Masters), GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) and other exams to seek admission into these premier engineering and technology institutions in various courses at different levels.

However, with the changing education landscape which has been further cushioned by the NEP (National Education Policy) 2020, the IITs have also started rolling out interdisciplinary programmes in various fields like Humanities, Languages, Law, Economics, and others. While these interdisciplinary programmes in some IITs have already started getting popularity among aspirants, some other IITs are set to roll new interdisciplinary programmes in the coming days. With that being said, we take a look at some of the most sought-after interdisciplinary and non-engineering degree courses offered by the IITs.
