Schools In Jharkhand To Reopen Today; Know Which States Plan To Start Classes Soon
After being shut down for months schools in Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana will resume classes.
New Delhi: Schools in India have started reopening after it remained shut for months due to the coronavirus pandemic. Many states such as Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and a few others went ahead to reopen schools in a graded manner in line with the Centre’s guidelines that allowed states a flexible approach in reopening schools for Classes 9 to 12 since November.
Schools in Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh will also reopen. While Jharkhand will begin classes from today, December 16 in MP it will start from December 18.

Madhya Pradesh: Schools for classes 10 and 12 will begin on December 18. The state government has also decided to start colleges from January 1. According to media reports, the decision to open schools has been taken by the education department in preparation for Board exams. Schools have also been advised to adhere to all Covid-19 norms. Earlier the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan had said that schools will begin only from April 1, 2021.
Jharkhand: School for classes 10 and 12 will begin from today, December 16. A report by ANI says that the decision was taken during a review meeting of the disaster management department which was chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Apart from this, medical, dental, nursing colleges and government training institutes have also been allowed to reopen. The report says that online education will also continue.
Haryana: The state will resume school for classes for 9 and 11 from December 21. For those classes 10 and 12 schools had reopened on December 16 in preparation for board exams. The state has said that students will have to submit a medical certificate that is not older than 72 hours to attend these classes. They will also require written consent from their parents. Schools in Haryana have been shut for 10 days till 30 November, after around 150 students across several government schools tested positive for coronavirus, barely two weeks after they were reopened for Classes 9 to 12.
