NIRF 2024 Rankings To Be Released On August 12 At 3 PM On nirfindia.org

In 2023 rankings, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT Madras) achieved first position in the "overall" category in the country for the fifth consecutive year.

The Ministry of Education will release the NIRF Rankings 2024 on August 12, 2024. The National Institutional Ranking Framework India Rankings will be published at 3 pm on the official NIRF website at nirfindia.org. Last year, the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT Madras) continued its dominance as the top "overall" category in the country for the fifth consecutive year.

IIT Madras also achieved the first position in engineering for the eighth consecutive year and was ranked as the second-best research institution in the country. The top spot in the research category was claimed by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru, with IIT Madras missing the top position by just 2.2 marks.

The prestigious ranking system evaluates institutions based on various parameters, including teaching, learning, research, and overall performance. 

"This framework outlines a methodology to rank institutions across the country. The methodology draws from the overall recommendations broad understanding arrived at by a Core Committee set up by MHRD, to identify the broad parameters for ranking various universities and institutions," reads the official website.

The parameters broadly cover “Teaching, Learning and Resources,” “Research and Professional Practices,” “Graduation Outcomes,” “Outreach and Inclusivity,” and “Perception”.

In the 2023 rankings, IIM Ahmedabad was recognised as the best business school in the country.

In the University category, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru retained the top spot last year. Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) bagged the second and third place respectively. Jadavpur University and Banaras Hindu University (BHU) secured fourth and fifth positions respectively.

The 8th edition of the NIRF ranking 2023 was announced by the Union Minister of State (MoS) for Education and External Affairs, Rajkumar Ranjan Singh.

The 2023 rankings evaluated 5,543 higher education institutions across 13 categories: overall, universities, medical, engineering, management, law, architecture, colleges, research institutions, pharmacy, dental, agriculture and allied sectors, and innovation.
